The Minister of Labour and Social Security, Brenda Mwika Tambatamba has called on newly appointed board members of the National Pension Scheme Authority, Workers Compensation Fund Control Board and Occupational Health and Safety Institute to lead with vision, integrity, and commitment.

Speaking during the board inauguration meeting for the three boards that fall under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Minister emphasized their critical role in ensuring that workers are protected, compensated, and supported throughout their careers and after retirement.
“The trust placed in you as chairpersons and board members is immense. Your appointment to these boards is a testament to your expertise, dedication, and commitment to shaping policies that will safeguard the welfare, security, and dignity of our nation’s workforce,” she said.

Ms Tambatamba reiterated that the appointments came at a time when the government was prioritizing decent work, social protection, and sustainable enterprises. She urged board members to uphold ethical leadership and ensure that resources are utilized effectively to benefit workers across the country.

And in a vote of thanks, Mr. Shipango Muteto, who has been re-appointed as Chairperson of the NAPSA Board of Trustees, expressed his gratitude for the re-appointment and pledged that the board will lead with integrity and transparency.
“We owe it to the contributors – past, present, and future – to ensure that NAPSA remains a trusted and high-performing institution,” he affirmed.

The newly inaugurated boards are expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening workers’ rights and benefits, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social protection and economic development.
